Good handling practice improves the long-term survival of sharks, skates and rays returned alive to the sea. This can contribute to population recovery for protected species.

We have worked with partners Marine Biology in Libya and ASCOB-Syrtis (Tunisia) to develop handling guides in Arabic for stingrays, guitarfishes, angel sharks, and other sharks. These enable fishers to ensure their own safety as well as increasing the chances of survival for these species when they are caught.
