Blue sharks can change colour like chameleon, scientists find

Unique structures on the skin of the blue shark suggest it may be able to change colour like a chameleon, according to a new study. The study reveals tiny nanostructures in the skin of the blue shark, Prionace glauca, that produce their colouration.

The Shark Trust announce Shark Photographer of the Year 2025

The highest accolade in this year’s competition, Shark Photographer of the Year 2025, has been awarded to Julian Hebenstreit for his stunning shot of an Indo-Pacific Leopard Shark (also known as a Zebra Shark) in Australia.
